eMED (Engineers in Medicine) invites you to our monthly Doctor Dinner over catered dinner! In this intimate, small group session, doctors and healthcare professionals from various fields discuss their research, lifestyle, and the course of their pathway to becoming involved in healthcare. This month we have two guests— Dr. Bryson Katona and Dr. Kirk Wangensteen. Dr. Katona is a director of medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wangensteen is an assistant professor of medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Both doctors received a MD-PhD and are gastroenterologists that specialize in cancer genetics. Specifically, Dr. Katona’s research expertise includes cellular signaling and epigenetic mechanism of tumorigenesis in colon cancer and gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. While Dr. Wagensteen specializes his research in the mapping of genetic pathways that enable liver regeneration and cause liver cancer.
